Ingenuous thought of today

Men are primitive creatures. When we (as women) fully come to terms with this, we will be less often disappointed by their primitive acts (i.e. not putting the toilet seat down), and more often surprised by those occasional acts that transcend primitiveness (i.e. opening the car door.)

And while I admit that this is not true of all men, it's best to be prepared for the "worst-case" scenario.

  1. Hmm, I would argue it’s not so much being primitive but more of a tendency to err on the side of brutal efficiency, i.e. there is no legitimate, non-societal reason to change the toilet seat position post-use. There is a probability that leaving the seat in said position is actually in the interest of the next toilet-user, since that may be the required position for the ensuing deposit. While this may be undesireable, due to a woman’s tendency to crave emotional convolution, it doesn’t ultimately suggest primitive behaviour. 0.02

  2. It is a primitive woman who believes in this day and age that it is somehow more proper for the man to open a door for her than for her to open it for him. Just today two ladies declined to hold the elevator door for us (we were well within the socially-established politeness proximity). That’s an ignorant move – I don’t care if you’re a man or a woman, black or white, gay or straight.

Oh, and the sheer arbitrariness regarding “correct” toilet seat position has been debated to death; please let the world know if there’s a single valid reason we should change its position after we’re done instead of you changing its position when you’re done.

  3. We put it up, you put it down. That’s the deal.
